Pumpal Light Resembling Kids’ Spinning Top Toys Posted: 11 Jan 2016 12:55 PM PST British designer Ewan Cashman has created a cement and wood floor lamp based on the shapes of spinning top toys he played with as a child. It features a circular white base that tapers to a point, attached to a long slender wooden body. The base is composed of hollow concrete, and provides the weight and balance that allows the lamp to be rotated 360 degrees – as a spinning top could be. A strip of LED lights is housed in the lamp’s body and covered in light diffusing plexiglass. The light’s cement and wood sections are joined together with a hollow steel rod used to transfer wiring as well as reinforce the structure. Victorian Terraced House Renovation With Soulful Elements Posted: 11 Jan 2016 05:55 AM PST Designer Mark Lewis was given free rein to update a run-down Victorian terraced house. The interior was renovated by exposing and embracing any interesting architectural details while adding sympathetic and soulful elements such as textured joinery or interesting wall finishes. A gathering space for the entire family, the kitchen has a mix of finishes for a feeling of warmth. In the bedroom, Lewis highlights the architectural molding with a contrasting paint color to the wall. The color play continues into the bathroom with a green painted window frame. I love how modern interiors harmoniously incorporate original old elements, they look like a whole symphony together.
